Melstacorp PLC is a diversified conglomerate based in Sri Lanka with business interests spanning a wide range of industries. The Group is home to 19 direct and indirect subsidiaries as well as two associate companies in sectors including beverages, telecommunications, leisure, plantations, energy, logistics and financial services amongst others. Melstacorp is home to approximately 12,700 employees.
The Group’s fully owned flagship company, Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka (DCSL), continues to remain the market leader in the hard alcohol segment in the country. The two subsidiaries, Balangoda Plantations PLC (BALA) and Browns Beach Hotel Plc (BBH) are listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE). The two associate companies of Madulsima Plantations Plc (MADU) and Aitken Spence Plc (SPEN) – a conglomerate in its own right – are also listed on the CSE.
Melstacorp was incorporated in 2011 as the strategic investment arm of the Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka group. In 2016, the Group was restructured with DCSL’s shareholdings of subsidiaries and associates realigned to Melstacorp, making Melstacorp the new parent company of the Group. It was listed in the Colombo Stock Exchange in end 2016 (MRCP), making it one of the ten largest listed companies in the CSE.
